Current Club Information

The following organizations are recognized by the Ardrey Kell ICC and are student-led and staff supported.  Each has been developed by students in collaboration with staff advisors. Contact the staff advisor for additional details.

We have placed the clubs into six different categories. This will assist you as seek out your desired club involvement. When choosing which club(s) to participate in, remember it is best to have a diverse portfolio of involvement. Also, please note that some clubs can fall under more than one category; however, we have chosen the category that best define's each club's mission. Check out each club's description to get a full idea of what involvement in each club entails.

Academic: These clubs/groups focus on developing personal skills and/or knowledge in relation to the related academic subject.
Cultural: These clubs/groups focus on learning the language, traditions, rituals, etc. of the identified culture(s).
Honor Societies: These clubs/groups are nationally recognized and acknowledge excellence in a specific academic discipline. These are organized according to which category they best fit under.
Human Interaction/Service Based: These clubs/groups work to improve the lives of others, both in the school and the community, through work with the disabled, homeless and countless other areas of need.
Leisure: These clubs/groups support activities related to students' personal interests including (but not limited to), religion, music, gaming, etc.
Social Justice: These clubs/groups actively work to improve society and/or spread awareness about social justice issues.

Biology Club
AK Biology Club is the best place to enhance your knowledge in biology and meet other fellow biology enthusiasts. We hope to reach out to students with an interest in biology to further foster their love for the subject.

Club Med
With an appeal to future medical students, we have medical professionals from various fields come to our school and speak to students about their experiences, education, and answer any questions students may have.

DECA**
Prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Ardrey Kell is one of the top 5 largest DECA Chapters in the state, with close to 260 members.​

Economics Club
Economics Club teaches students about important concepts related to economics and personal finance, and prepares them to make good decisions in the future. We have opportunities to compete in national-level competitions and host many events with guest speakers!

FBLA
​Provides students with opportunities to lead, serve our community, and compete with other students in regional, state, and national conferences. Our club is related to business and finance.

Girls Engineering Change (GEC)
A group of students motivated to encourage young girls to explore engineering. We volunteer at local schools. At each monthly meeting, we either discuss/plan volunteering, do an activity, or listen to a speaker who has experience in the STEM field. ​

HOSA
​HOSA is a medical-based club that focuses on several health occupations, specifically nursing. The club partakes in many volunteering and community service events as well as major school events and activities. HOSA significantly improves leadership development and motivation while providing experiences in the medical field.

Mock Trial
​Utilize your debate, public speaking, and writing skills in an official NC Mock Trial competition (simulated court case). Gain experience in the courtroom with professional lawyers and improve your knowledge in law through weekly practices and meetings

Model United Nations
​A simulation of the United Nations where students represent countries in the UN and attend conferences across the state and country to negotiate major international issues. We collaborate, give speeches, debate, have fun, and most importantly, grow as global citizens!

National Social Studies Honor Society

Science Olympiad
An American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. At Ardrey Kell, we have a Varsity and JV team. Each team consists of 18 students.

Writing Club
Writing club promotes a supportive community of writers at AK. We have inclusive student-led writing lessons, creative writing workshops, and guest speakers. Students also have the opportunity to share their work to receive constructive feedback from peers

The Scholastic Competitions Club (SCC)
We are a club that serves to provide students with the opportunity to expand their scholastic knowledge through the use of participation in CMS-sponsored competitions, including but not limited to: Battle of the Books, The Quill, and Quiz Bowl. We are a platform that encourages students to learn more, using competitions to help kids increase their reading comprehension, absorb more knowledge about the world around them, and flourish in their writing skills. Through SCC, students can win medals for Ardrey Kell and expand their own academic knowledge in a fun and competitive environment.

Human Interaction/Volunteer Based Clubs/Groups

AK Ambassadors
​Allows students to develop leadership skills by becoming intricate members of the AK community and through many provided volunteering opportunities. These skills are also achieved through the involvement in the execution of school events, representation at said events, and assistance to new students or those who request assistance.

Bright Knights
Members will pair up with elementary-aged "buddies" and assist them in completing their homework and reading. Bright Knights focuses on tutoring children at Pineville Elementary School. Website | About Video

Generations Club
​Generations Club is an interactive club where students are able to participate in service events approximately every 2 weeks at local nursing homes and shelters for people in need. Students will plan and coordinate events at these visits and will be able to interact with the residents, as well as can help out with fundraising events. Opportunities like this will allow students to learn more about their local community while earning service hours.

Interact Club
​Allows students to come together and volunteer and to become active in the community. Throughout the year we will volunteer at places such as daycares, schools, and homeless shelters.

Cans For Kids
Cans for Kids aims to aid families and students who have been less fortunate during the Covid-19 pandemic by helping them get daily meals. In addition to collecting food and drink donations, we provide volunteer opportunities to CMS students during our food drives and fundraisers. Unicef Unite Club
UNICEF is an international organization that focuses on advocating for children’s rights and provides humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. We will be fundraising money with events and volunteering in certain services to help children achieve their full potential. We hope to make an impact by raising awareness and educating others!

PAWS
AK PAWS(Protecting Animal Wellness Society) gives students a chance to help our animal community through holding various fundraisers throughout the school year and volunteering at our local animal shelters and rescues. Raising money for these shelters allows us to provide much needed love for abandoned animals.​

Club MAGIK
Club MAGIK is a nonprofit organization at Ardrey Kell High School that supports people with developmental and/or physical delays. Throughout the year, our club hosts engaging hands-on activities at group homes that house these people. For 2 years now this club has supported several hundreds of individuals with special needs with clothes, living supplies, and a constant support system year round.  Our club provides people with developmental or physical delays with a community of people they can call friends, and a feeling of acceptance within our society.

Aviation Club
We focus on immersing CMS students in the world of aviation via guest speakers, hands-on activities, field trips and more. In the club, members will learn the fundamentals of aviation, how to jumsptart their careers and have an opportunity to fly a small airplane for free. All (budding pilots, engineers, technicians, controllers, aviation businesspeople, future service members and enthusiasts) are welcome.

Environmental Club is a way students can discuss issues pressing our environment, hear various speakers present on environmental concerns, and learn how to better ourselves and give back to nature. Students are also able to participate in Envirothon, an academic competition.

Social Justice Clubs/Groups

Amnesty International 
Amnesty International is a club focused on fighting human rights abuses through helping to change oppressive laws worldwide. Issues we focus on include climate change, protection of the freedom of expression internationally, arms control and refugee and migrant rights. We will be writing letters addressing specific human rights cases, fundraisers and drives and hosting guest speakers from local advocacy organizations.
